Car Requirements for UBER Q&A

Can you drive in more than one city?

Yes, however, you can only drive for Uber in the towns within your state.

If you want to know the availability in a particular town, download the smartphone app and request a test ride in that town.

In order to drive for Uber in another state, you need an eligible vehicle which must have in-state plates and a new driver’s license and insurance.

Will paint and body damage disqualify my car?

They don’t accept vehicles with significant body damage.

The inspectors look more closely at the car and will reject severely damaged body and paint.

You need to also send the photos of your vehicle in the event of a dent on the body so that it is brought to their attention and duly documented.

The rule of thumb, though, is that baseball-sized dents and scratches are okay; anything larger than that can qualify your car.

What if my car doesn’t pass inspection?

If your vehicle doesn’t pass the inspection process, then you can request a re-inspection procedure.

If this fails, then you should consider investing some money in bringing the car up to match the required standards.

The checklist will give some awesome insight on what it is you need to do to achieve the required standards.

What if I don’t have a car?

You can be a rideshare driver even if you do not have a car.

All you have to do is to sign up under the numerous Uber partners available and you will have a car to use.
